This is a segment of an interview, conducted in Egypt in 2016 with two of the finest and most knowledgeable guides (and teachers!) that you could hope to meet, Yousef Awyan and Mohammed Ibrahim. Produced with clips from various sites, we get into the details of Ancient Egyptian quarrying and the unfinished obelisk, the giant single piece granite objects from the Old Kingdom, and a discussion about the Bent Pyramid.
I’m working hard on researching some longer, more involved videos that I’ve mentioned before, but I’ve been wanting to share more from our interview in Yousef’s shop for some time, and I’ve got more to come in the future!
transcript coming, let me know in a comment if that’s something you care about…. I have them for lots of my videos, don’t always post them.
Good day sir.
I will be very quick and straight – I love what you do and most importantly how you do it. Your style of spreading these information is very pleasant, omitting any form of critisism of anybody and full of very precious data. It’s very important what you do and please continue. You’re amazing!
Huuuuuge thank you 🙂
Thanks very much for the kind words Marek!
Hey man.
I would love to chat about some of the stuff you saw with Mohammed and Yusef.
You said you were from California in the video …. I’m from Stockton so we might be close. Cheers on the great work!

Dear Sir ,
I’d like to ask you two questions about ancient Egypt ,the first is – could the ancient Egyptians have used the ultra hard carbon atoms found in meteorites for cutting and polishing granite etc. the second question is -why did the ancient Egyptians NEVER include a pyramid in their paintings ! I’ll be amazed and very grateful if I ever get a reply ! Cheers Eddie Wagner
Interesting point about the glyphs, I do have footage and discussion on the scenes that do show some of the work, I’ll get into those in a future video… It’s possible, even likely, that they had some meteoric iron. it would have been extremely rare however, and most likely used for decorative objects (like Tuts dagger I think) and not for the heavy work of quarrying or shaping, they wouldn’t have nearly enough of it.
Your video on tube drilled cores in Egypt was well done and very interesting.
When I thought of a tube drill, I thought of a Hole Saw of the type used for wood. That type of saw has teeth on a flat end.
I am wondering if the Egyptian cores were fabricated with a tube that had a spiral end surface with a 0.1 inch pitch and something like 500 tiny teeth on the end. A 4 inch tube with 500 teeth would have space for each tooth of 4 * 3.1416 / 500 = 0.025 inch, a seemingly reasonable size.
Each tooth would cut 0.1 / 500 = 0.0002 inch deep per revolution, a seemingly reasonable amount.
The drill could be fed by a threaded rod or other mechanism.
It seems that this explains how the ancients could drill 500 times faster than our flat ended, manually fed drills.
A close examination of the end of the bore hole may reveal the actual number of teeth used and the vertical pitch of the teeth.
