A full-length documentary looking into the evidence for ancient machining, centered around a remarkable granite slab found on the rarely visited Ancient Egyptian pyramid site of Abu Rawash. We explore the context and history of the ancient, igneous masonry on these sites with witness marks that don’t match anything in the known dynastic ancient Egyptian toolbox.

Following expert testimony and analysis from precision machining experts and manufacturing engineers, the only reasonable conclusion is that advanced machining processes were in use at Abu Rawash, as well as on other Ancient Egyptian sites, at some point in the distant past.

10,000 words and (I hope) nearly done with the script for a deep dive back into the evidence for machining in Ancient Egypt. A focus on this remarkable granite piece at Abu Rawash, its witness marks and connections to other evidence. Cut radially in two axis, it’s concave, with clear kerfs and striations. Bit of a mind bender.

Been deep in this stuff recently, hopefully new video coming in the next couple weeks. For patrons, channel members etc, in the next couple of days I will record a supporter-only video going over what I’ve been working on and get into the compelling evidence behind this and other machined pieces of hard stone.

We visit Ancient Mendes – a rarely seen and massive ancient Egyptian site, going back to pre-dynastic times. Amazing megaliths, including the largest ‘Naos’ (single piece upright granite box) in Egypt. We found much more than we expected! Vase fragments, machined stone, and more…

Max Fomitchev-Zamilov has made several podcast appearances recently, as well as publishing numerous articles both on his website and elsewhere, claiming that he has conclusively shown the category of ‘precise’ hard stone vessels from ancient Egypt to be modern fakes. I quite disagree. Let’s discuss.

Generally, I have a strong inclination against “reaction” content, and I already have 10-plus hours of researched content dedicated to the topic of ancient precision vases on my channel. However, seeing as I am specifically named in Max’s latest article, I do want to spend a little time to share my perspective on his claims.

I’ve met Max, and we’ve been quite cordial. I’ve spent a couple of days with him in total, so I wouldn’t say I know him well. I’m generally thankful for his interest and work on these topics, but some of his claims and statements made recently in his work and on social media I’ve found to be a little…strange.

Most of Max’s work on Ancient Egypt can be found on his website. I will mostly be referencing his latest article of April 22, 2026, but also his prior research and articles, some of which I have previously referenced in my vase focused content.

Let’s establish some baselines, and lay out my understanding of what’s happened here.

Going beneath the Black Pyramid at Dashur is a rare opportunity – entering the labyrinthian set of passages and chambers grants us insight into dynastic pyramid architecture. First excavated in the late 1800s, some passages have collapsed, and several are in danger of collapse due to the weight of the mud-brick pyramid above. We had the chance to view and inspect several interesting artifacts still in place beneath this iconic, ancient structure!

A quick note, as the tour basically sold out before I even made it public. Firstly, I’m blessed and very grateful for the support and demand for these trips, it’s a little overwhelming frankly.
