Evidence exists for a number of truly colossal statues that existed during the Ancient Egyptian Civilization. Carved from single solid pieces of granite, or conglomerate quartzite, several of these behemoths weighed in at 1000 tons and more. Some were transported more than 1000km from their original quarries, and the remaining fragments display amazingly fine details and features. A true logistical and technological challenge.
Could these statues, as well as smaller examples that display other aspects of lost ancient technology, have been inherited by the Dynastic Egyptian Civilization? Might they have formed the basis for the iconic artwork, style and culture of the civilization that we are all familiar with today? Why do we see a tale of two industries, primitive and advanced, in so many categories of Ancient Egyptian artifacts?
Join me as we explore these questions, and examine the evidence for truly colossal remains of ancient Egyptian statues, and forms of lost ancient technology, far beyond that which can be achieved by the tools and techniques that exist in the archaeological record.

Hello, I have enjoyed UnchartedX and associated researchers. My academic and professional background is in Mathematics and Computer Science, but also history, culture, literature and languages. I enjoy archaeology and problem solving. I wrote an article “The Human in Stone Monuments” (https://www.linkedin.com/pulse/human-stone-monuments-sean-harasymchuk ) if you are interested.
I have written a database procedure to analyze the dimensions of the Serapeum Sarchophagi, but I can only find those provided by Monsieur Mariette. I would like to study more than just this one box. Please let me know if there are any publications that contain this information.
I analyze not only the linear dimensions, but also the surface areas and volumes. I also consider not only a ruler, but the diagonal and also the perimeter of a triangle for measuring tools. Many ancient math problems involved all these geometries. So far I have found some interesting relationships:
– the chamfered edges of the top of the lid seem to be in ratios of (8, 15, 17), which is a known and common Pythagorean triplet from ancient times, where the height is also 1/5 of the perimeter,
– the chamfered diagonal is very close or equal to the diagonal of stone wall (from outside to inside) in the corners of the box,
– the volume (and hence the weight if the stone density is uniform) of the lid is close to the volume of the hollow in the box, in fact it is very close or equal if you add back the volume of material removed for one of the two chamfers,
– the inner end of the box has an area very close or equal to a vertical long side of the lid,
and many more.
I made an algorithm to find nearest whole number ratios, knowing that the ancients liked things in simple ratios.
Finding a relationship does not mean it must have been intended, but could be a consequence of using certain tools or having certain intentions, like simple ratios.
– I also noticed that the orientation of the lids seems to be aligned in a true north-south orientation, slightly askew of the tombs and boxes. I cannot find an accurate depiction of these to confirm however, it just appears that way judging from the documentaries and photos.
I would happily share my results so far, and I would be very grateful if I could find some accurate measurements of more than just this one box. An orientation diagram would also be nice. Please let me know where I could source these.
Best Regards,
Hello Ben,
Great video once again with wonderful with beautiful views of the Egyptian marvels !
Your demonstration is the only logical one: these beautiful artefacts, gigantic statues and intricately carved statues literally “step out of line” and cannot represent the fruit of the work of the same civilization.
They were obviously inherited : most probably, the design of many recent Egyptian pieces of art has been inspired by the one of their predecessors just as the so-called Neo-Classic or Neo-Gothic creations are drawing their roots in the ancient Greek, Roman or Medieval artistic periods.
Concerning the incredible feat related to the very accurate, smooth and mind-blowing carving of some very extreme hard pieces of stones, I remember having seen one interesting video on YouTube quite a couple of years ago.
Two guys from Moscow specialized in granite and marble engineering (Russia has got very good specialists in this industry – just look at the beautiful stations in the Moscow subway for example ! ) were visiting Egypt for the first time.
During the sequence shot inside the Great Pyramid, like most visitors, they were extremely surprised by the incredible carving of the inner part of the so-called Khufu sarcophagus.
According to them, to achieve such a beautiful quality of work, with an extrem high precision and to keep such a respect of proportions, a “very special machine” must have been used, “a kind of lathe rotating at a very high speed, that is to say at minimum 60.000 rpm”.
“Today, we the engineers and craftsmen of the 21st century could not manufacture such an artwork, because to put it simply, such a machine does not exist !…”.
One more thing is important to underline : these engineers had no experience in Egyptology before, apparently they had not studied much Ancient Egypt prior to their trip and had not seen thousands of videos about the subject as well, and they were speaking Russian only…a kind of guarantee as a far as ‘neutral approach’ of the subject is concerned, according to me.
Thus, their one experience, alone, on site, without any filter, says it all.
Cheers and all the best for your coming trips around the globe !
Pierre

If this is what they may have used, I have two questions;
1) Has any evidence of any machinery ever been found?
2) even if they had a machine like this, how was it powered?
Really cool videos, thank you for taking the time to put them all together. I haven’t done extensive reading on the subject so please forgive me if I’m asking repetitive questions.
-the machining of the granite seems quite clear but it raises so many more questions
1)if they could mine enough metal to cut granite, why not build with metal
2)if they didn’t cut with metal how else would they have done it. the aswan quarry clearly shows traces of equipment so maybe air or water powered sand blasting?
3) i thought of chemical reactions when i saw the aswan quarry scoops but dismissed it after the articulating-equipment-arm evidence. however seeing the surface of the granite at the end i thought again of hydrofluoric acid damage. that would easily eat any silica based stone. how they would make it i don’t know. any water source near there rich in Fluoride?
The state of disintegration of the largest statue (the ‘thumb’ reconstructed to the arm ) calls into question just how it was fractured -certainly in falling over as from an earthquake the pieces would be expected to be more individually massive and to fit more exactly together ,jigsaw like, than appears to be the case. On another anomaly -the wavy ‘folded’ translucent stone bowls in the Cairo museum LOOK to have been intially turned but then, somehow, warped into the compound shapes just like modern glass work is formed by heat –is there any evidence or testing on some of that material to indicate they could soften and so shape these artifacts ? Concentrated solar energy perhaps .. the schist disk is similar in apparent ‘plastic’ stage forming but even more complex .
