Ben,
Couldn’t resist reaching out as I watch all the commentary on the Joe Rogan/Zahi Hawass debacle. I went down the rabbit hole and found an interview that Art Bell did back in 1998 with Zahi. I came away with two thoughts: Zahi is a well practiced shyster and I hope Ben, time and interest permitting, does a deconstruction of Joe & Zahi. Of course, it may not be worth the cost of your valuable time creating the fine content that the UnchartedX collective has come to know and love. Kudos and Thanks!
Take a glass and put it on the stove to heat it up. Throw it in a pan off cold water and watch what happens. The same thing happens to granite when you heat it up and throw cold water on it. One man would start at the bottom of the trench and hold a torch against the granite for a few minutes and then another person would throw cold water on it. They move up the grant face a few feet and hold the torch against the granite for another few minutes. This process would be repeated until they reach the top. After that, another crew would come in and start pounding with the Dormate blocks.. The Dolemite blocks were great, but only after the granite has been heated and then shocked with cold water. The reason why the scoop mark appear is because when you hold the torch against the granite, the heat penetrates deeper at the center than around the perimeter. The further away from the center the less Granite will fracture. This also explains why you have deep holes at the bottom of the excavation. The holes act as a sump to remove the excess water that they’re throwing on the granite.
Far too much wrong with this hypothesis to bother getting into the details. It’s been experimented with, fire isn’t responsible for the scoop marks. the deep holes are also scooped out.

maybe. I don’t do reaction content generally, but I might talk about it.
